Anthony May

OT582 - East

We regret to have to report the passing of  Anthony May (OT582) of East House who died on 24 December 2021.  We understand the announcement was made by his wife on Facebook.  Anthony was not an OSOBS member and was an actor of some considerable note – see  www.anthonymay.net  OSOBS has no other information other than the message was seen by Nick Roberts – OT695.

10/01/22 - We now have further details after the passing of Anthony May (OT582) of East House who died on 24 December 2021.
The funeral details and a link to a tribute and donation page have  been set up.
Church service:  1.30 on Wednesday 19 January at St Paul's Church, Ridley Avenue, London W13 9XW

We also received the following from Phil Harrison sent to Anthony's widow

“Dear Vanessa, I was a fellow 'scholar' at Ottershaw with Anthony and was so sorry to hear of his passing.  He was a couple of years older than me, but being in the same house (East) I do recall vaguely what a character he was, and obviously he had a streak of mischief in him, as one day I recall he was down in the car park below the 'mansion' which housed our 'house' dorms and the headmaster's apartment who himself was a great character.  As Anthony was walking a window opened some two storeys up and Mrs Foot, leant out and exclaimed 'May - you bastard!'.  This comment coming from one so superior was quite a shock to us juniors but I recall that Anthony did  not appear phased as he continued on his way!  We never found out what the cause of this utterance was but it was the talk of East house for some time! Sir Arthur and Mrs Foot did have a daughter though!  Just a thought! Forgive my intrusion into your grief  but I thought this might lighten your load.  I don't have FB and am using my wife's having seen the obituary on the Old Ottershavian's group.  My sincere condolences to you and your family - Phil Harrison, Zimbabwe”
