Ottershaw School 1948 -80 Social Group
We started in 2010 when a few Old Boys who were at the school in the 1960s got in contact after some 40 years and as we were all from North we then called ourselves "Oett's Boys" and had so much fun we decided to hold an event annually.
Over the ensuing years our meetings attracted people from all houses and from a wider time period of the school so in 2020 we renamed the group to the "Ottershaw School 1960s & '70s Group".
Nowadays the group is intended to act a means of promoting social activity all Old Boys person who attended Ottershaw School. As a result the group has changed its name to reflect that we welcome ANY Old Boy to any of our events and any Old Boy from the school, whether an OSOBS member or not, is most welcome to join us. We hope you will enjoy being part of our very active and growing community. Click here to visit our very active Facebook page where you can connect with many other Old Boys.
Our next event is scheduled for July 2026 -
URGENT - PLEASE HELP KEEP THIS GROUP ALIVE:
As many of you will know, this group recently lost its group leaders and organisers.
For the past 12 years John Burrow and Khalil Lawry worked tirelessly together to organise our annual get-togethers and other social events. John also arranged and paid for many little keepsakes to be distributed at those events including baseball caps, phone chargers, mugs and other objects. All this created an ever growing group of Old Boys which met up at least annually and enjoyed each others company. Although the group started up with only seven North House boys from the 1960s, as it grew no one was barred, and so came to include people from all houses and all eras of the school.
Alas sadly John died suddenly and Khalil had a heart attack and felt without the support of John and not being in good health himself, he was unable to continue with the organiser role. As a result our 2022 summer get together was cancelled and so far there had been no-one to organise events for the future.
Those of you who have enjoyed meeting up over the past 13 years I am sure will not want to see this highly active group wither and die. However, to survive and grow, the group needs new blood to take on the role of getting at least one event organised each year and communicating with our existing members and as many other Ottershaw Old Boys as possible to keep the spirit of our group and the memory of all those who began and supported this venture going.
OSOBS, the official Old Boys Society is keen the group should survive and one of our members, Ian Govier with some help, hopes he can get some things moving again, but he can’t do all what is needed alone. He urgently needs the active support and practical assistance from some of our members. So are you in a position to assist and how can you help?
If you would like to either join our group, attend one of our events, or go on our mailing list, please click here and let us know.
There are no subscrptions or restrictions as to who can join us apart from the need to be an Old Boy from the School.
You can view photos from all our reunions by visiting the galleries below and can review the activities of the group in this little video which was produced to celebrate 11 years of the group's existance. The group have also produced a themed 2021 calender showing the group's events from the previous 11 years.
