Dear Sir,

I am Lawrence the twin-brother of Brian Richard George Burrell who attended Ottershaw School from about 1951/2 to about 1955 I think before he moved onto Saunders Roe on the Isle of Wight to start his engineering career.

Brian passed away on Monday the 14th of September at home 53, Burbidge Road, Shepperton, TW17 0ED where he lived with his wife Assimina. The funeral has been arranged for Wednesday 30th September 2020, 3.20 pm at Hanworth Crematorium, Middlesex. Family and invited friends due to the limit of 30 attendees. No flowers, donations instead to Diabetics UK charity, there is a donation page at the Funeral Directors ‘Lodge Brothers’ Green Lane, Shepperton, and cheques can be sent there as well.

I have no knowledge of Brian’s association or commitment with the OSOB society, very little I expect as he didn’t seem to support any organisations outside his immediate needs or views. He travelled the world widely as an engineer and spoke fluent French, had a working knowledge of Danish from his first marriage, and an understanding of Greek from his second marriage to his current wife Assimina who he married in 1983. They moved to Shepperton after getting married, and since retiring from full time work has lead a very noneventful life to say the least. He became diabetic and has fallen over twice breaking his hips which has subsequently caused problems with the circulation of blood in his legs. This caused serious infections to his feet and legs resulting in the removal of the toes on his right foot, and consideration for amputation of his left leg below the knee. In the end the consultant felt that it would be pointless due to the risk and in essence sent him home two months ago to die. His health slowly declined until a point where he was bed bound and for the last week or so in a vegetive state. In my mind his passing was a happy release for him, as a twin I was with him when we were born and with him when he died.

He boarded at the school during his time there and enjoyed the comradeship of his fellow students, but didn’t seem to make any long term association with his fellow class mates after leaving his education there.
