David Folwell
OT560 - Tulk
On 28/4/25 we received the following massage passed on by Mac McDougall:
It is with un utterable sadness that I have to inform you that David passed away early on Sunday morning.
Your correspondence meant so much to him . Our children visited him recently which gave him much pleasure.
They have both been here to help me arrange is funeral later this week.
Regards, Colinette
As soon as we have any further details they will be posted here.

Sadly, I have just lit a candle in honour of David (Folwell OT 560), whose wife, Colinette, has informed me that David died a couple of days ago.
My own recollection of David starts with him as deputy (to Mick Leighton OT 494) dormitory leader in my first year at Ottershaw and dormitory leader in my second year. David was ever a background presence yet an individual who even then commanded respect, his quiet authority seasoned with a subtle dry humour. After a gap of many years we re-established contact through the good offices of Tim Jenvey (OT 635) and Malcolm 'Mac' McDougall (OT 581) and over the following years engaged in a lively email exchange, from which I learned - among other things that he had settled in New Zealand after achieving both his lifetime ambitions: to be a zoo keeper and a vet.
His emails (which I have kept on file) will be remembered partly for their astonishing length but not least for their equally astonishingly prose, well-informed and stimulating, the hallmark of a lively and enquiring mind and clearly demonstrating how a promising acorn matured into a splendid oak. I am also informing Mac and the OSOBS Gazette editor by copying them into this message.
With very best wishes (also to Judith)
