Michael Timothy Pleasance
OT 980 - East
It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Michael Pleasance (OTT980) on 13th January 2020 who was just 66 years of age.
He faced his illness with amazing courage, faith, and the same sense of humour which characterised his life. He is survived by his partner, his son and daughter, and five grandsons.
Being a student at Ottershaw was a defining experience for Michael. He truly loved his time there and always referred to it with pride and affection. After leaving Ottershaw, his first choice was to pursue a caring career in nursing. He loved this, but he eventually made a slight change and became one of the few male Health Visitors employed in the NHS.
After studying further at University he was awarded an MBA and used this ultimately to become a senior NHS manager. His final career came within the Pharmaceutical Industries where he fulfilled with great distinction the role of health care consultant - specialising in Diabetes. He was considered within the NHS to be one of the true experts in the field.
His retirement was all too short, but he still had time to pursue his loves of flying (he held a private pilot's licence), gardening, birdwatching, his family, and watching cricket (and then more cricket!).
Dr Paul Pleasance (brother)
