Roy Oettinger

June 2019 - We have just  been informed by his widow that Old Boy and former teacher Roy Oettinger passed away on 2nd May 2019 following a short illness.

He had had major heart surgery in 2013 and was doing fine, being able to go away on holidays etc. His heart failure condition started slowly to deteriorate beginning of April this year, but he was at home and comfortable. It all happened quite unexpectedly.

His widow, Ilse, has very fond memories of Ottershaw School as it is where she met Roy in 1973/74 when she was the German Language Assistant there. Roy moved on to Gordon's School in 1989, where he was Deputy Headmaster for the last 10 years before he retired in 2010.  An obituary will appear here. and an article about him appears in The Gazette no. 70 which can be accessed from here by members.
