Terrance (Spud) Murphy

OT 219 - East

We have been advised that Terrence (Spud) Murphy (OT 219 - East)  died on 2nd February 2022. No further details are known.  After leaving school, he joined the Surrey Constabulary and served most of his time as a Detective Constable, mainly at Woking. 

Tony Forward  tracked down Spud’s son Robin, who lives in Emsworth, Hants who told him his dad had severe dementia over the last 2 years of his life and died in a nursing home where he had been a resident for some time.  He also had other on-going health problems.  His wife Sheila and his daughter were with him when he passed away. Tony and Spud were good friends at Ottershaw School and saw each other occasionally in the police.  After retirement he moved to Derbyshire.  He did not keep in touch with either police or school friends.
