Sharpe, Harry
PE Teacher from January 1951 to December 1953
Taken from The Gazette No 49.
I am also sorry to record the death of Harry Sharp who I remember as the PE teacher. But he also started the ATC, which in later years became the OTC.
For many Harry will be best remembered for taking them flying at Fairoaks in RAF Chipmunks. As a RAF reserve Officer he was able to have use of these Chipmunks and I believe one or two boys went all but solo.
There was one representative from the Old Boys at Harry’s funeral and I had this note from Roger Dearden: A note to let you know that I attended Harry Edwin (Buster) Sharp's funeral service yesterday the 28th, along with many of his Ringwood friends and family. I was the only one from the School, and hence was asked many questions about school life almost 60 years ago, especially as Canon Turpin mentioned that I had " babysat" Susan, Harry's elder daughter, much
to her surprise. I believe Harry left when she was 2 and a half. so the family had little knowledge of this time in their lives.
John Matthews, Roy Bright, and myself, being part of Harry and Jean's extended family, enjoyed the task especially as cake and buns where on offer.
