David Over - (OTT532-Tulk) sent an email with a message to the OSOBS Editor- but it arrived just a few hours after Gazette No 82 had been published, and so it missed the chance to be included in that edition. As a result we have copied it here for Old Boys to read.

Back in the 1970s at Ottershaw School, we were taught many things—resourcefulness, resilience, and perhaps most importantly, how to keep going when things didn’t quite go to plan. It seems those lessons have stuck.

I’m putting them to the test by taking part in a banger rally to Monte Carlo with my brother—yes, in a car of highly questionable reliability. It’s equal parts adventure and endurance, which feels oddly fitting given my Ottershaw grounding.

More importantly, the rally is in support of a cause worth far more than the vehicle we’ll be driving. We’re raising funds to help build a roof for a new facility at the Kgalagadi Women’s Empowerment Centre in Botswana—an initiative doing vital work to support and uplift women in the community.

If any fellow Old Boys feel inclined to support the effort, whether through a donation or simply by spreading the word, it would be greatly appreciated. It’s good to know that, all these years on, the Ottershaw spirit can still be put to good use—preferably getting us all the way to Monte Carlo.
